Don’t Rush Away from God
Stay Close to God—That's Where Your Strength Is
Everyone wants freedom. As a teenager, it's normal to want more independence and to make your own decisions. But the story of the Prodigal Son reminds us that freedom without wisdom can lead to regret.
The Prodigal Son made two big mistakes.
1. He Rejected His Father's Guidance
Instead of trusting his father, he demanded his inheritance and walked away. He believed life would be better if he made all the decisions himself.
Sometimes we can think the same way. We ignore God's instructions because we believe we know what's best. But every step away from God is a step toward trouble. God's rules aren't meant to stop you from enjoying life—they're meant to protect your future.
The amazing part is this: even when we make mistakes, God is always ready to forgive us when we come back to Him.
2. He Left The Place Where He Was Safe
The father's house wasn't just a building—it was a place of love, protection, and purpose.
Today, the enemy still tries to pull young people away from places that help them grow spiritually. He may convince you that reading your Bible is boring, prayer doesn't matter, or church isn't important. But those are the very places where your faith grows stronger.
Your church family encourages you, teaches God's Word, and helps you stay focused when life gets confusing.
Just like your body needs food every day, your spirit needs God's Word regularly.
Don't let temporary feelings keep you away from the people and places God uses to strengthen your faith.
Remember, staying close to God is the safest and smartest place to be.

Today's Action Point: Spend at least 15 minutes with God today. Read a chapter from the Bible. Pray honestly about what's on your mind. If possible, plan to attend your next church service or youth fellowship with excitement instead of seeing it as an obligation.
Ask yourself these three questions: Am I moving closer to God or drifting away from Him? What is distracting me from growing spiritually? What is one habit I can start today that will strengthen my relationship with Jesus? Choose one practical step and commit to it this week.
